It was an honour to be told Assurant Intermediary has made the shortlist for this year’s MI Awards.

We have remained committed to the adviser market and offer a personal support and service that we believe is very difficult to beat.

We try to do the right thing, in the right way following two of Assurant’s core values; common decency and common sense and this has been appreciated from our supporting advisers, this year maybe more than any other.

Early and regular communication

Before the end of March, we quickly communicated Assurant’s global stance to COVID-19 and how we would maintain our service to adviser firms and their customers, whilst also protecting our staff.

We also highlighted our Business Continuity Plan and that of our insurance partners.

 Understanding the challenges

We contacted introducing adviser firms to offer our support and check how they, their families and staff were coping, and what impact the lockdown was having on them personally and professionally.

Where policyholders were finding themselves in difficulties, we were quick to facilitate reduced payments or even payment holidays.

Consistent and ongoing assistance

We understand the time and resource pressures facing advisers, but GI protection does not need to be forgotten or neglected.

We have continued to offer:

  • Our Gold Service referral option which has proved invaluable helping advisers free up time to concentrate on the volume of mortgage enquiries and resourcing.
  • A broker support pack as well as a series of hints and tips on how to approach customers and what to look out for when reviewing policies.
  • A “Friends and Family” 35% discount offer available to all advisers and staff for their own policies (still valid until 1st July 2021).
  • Our interactive “Introduction to Home Insurance” training guide that offers 60 minutes of CPD accreditation.
