Hampden & Co

Mortgage Introducer Awards 2020

Hampden & Co entry for Private Bank of the Year

Our recent significant achievements

In the relatively short time since our launch in 2015, we have established an enviable reputation for exceptional personal service, complemented by the convenience of digital technology.  Here are some of our notable achievements.

Strong financial performance § To the end of Q3 2020, we reported strong growth in both lending, deposits and income.  Compared to the same period in 2019:

Ø  Loans and advances to clients grew 77%

Ø  Deposits grew 18%

Ø  Total income increased by 13%

A team dedicated to supporting mortgage introducers § We established a team of specialists to provide mortgage introducers with a named individual who supports them on all aspects of lending.

§ We have grown the team as our network of introducers has expanded and deepened.

Supporting clients during Covid-19 §  We have provided guidance and banking services to a wide range of clients affected by the impact of the pandemic, including mortgage payment deferrals, support for clients relocating from overseas, and refinancing of loans.

§  In all material respects it has been business as usual as we transitioned seamlessly to working remotely. We have remained fully available to our clients and introducers.

§  We have maintained our lending appetite and parameters, providing bespoke solutions for complex deals.

Selected by Smith & Williamson to transfer secured lending and service clients §  Following Smith & Williamson’s decision to renounce their banking license, we successfully acquired lending clients and £31m of loans secured against investments.  S&W’s co-CEO David Cobb commented:

It is crucial that our clients continue to receive the same high level of service that they have been accustomed to. When we examined the market, we recognised the same culture and sense of commitment at Hampden & Co, and its clear focus on banking made the decision a relatively straightforward one.’

Supporting the communities in which we live and work §  Most recently we supported the National Emergencies Trust in recognition of the work they are doing to support families during the pandemic. Their work with local charities and distribution partners delivers financial support to those that need it most, and we were delighted to raise over £4k.
Our clients are our strongest advocates §  In our most recent client satisfaction survey, we achieved a Net Promoter Score of +70, reflecting strong advocacy from clients and their willingness to recommend Hampden & Co.
Hampden & Co as a great place to work §  In both of our last two colleague engagement surveys, 81% of colleagues told us that Hampden & Co is a great place to work.

§  Our colleague turnover levels are extremely low at 1.48%.

§  We have attracted experienced talent to the business.  Most recently, Andrew Bell joined from Aegon Asset Management as Chief Commercial Officer, and we have attracted bankers from competitors, including Handelsbanken and C. Hoare.

In summary, much has been achieved in a short period of time as we strive to make Hampden & Co the most respected private bank in the UK.
